8099 KM RURAL ROADS AFFECTED IN THE RECENT FLOOD

Bhubaneswar:25.10.2013: 8099 KM RURAL ROADS AFFECTED IN THE RECENT FLOOD :The unprecedented Cyclonic Storm (PHAILIN) followed by heavy rainfall has left a trail of devastation mostly in coastal districts of Odisha. This has resulted heavy damages to public infrastructure including rural roads. 8,099km rural roads have been affected in 28 RW Divisions of 15 districts. As per the report received from the field divisions, 300 km rural roads under Gajapati RW Division have been affected. An amount of 2.5 crores is required for restoration and repair. 283 km rural roads under Kendrapara-I Division have been affected which require 5 crores for restoration and repair. 224 km rural roads under Kendrapara-II Division have been affected which require 6.5crores for restoration and repair. 137 km rural roads under Bhadrak-I Division have been affected which require 4 crores for restoration and repair. 380 km rural roads under Bhadrak-II Division have been affected out of which 270 km roads have been cleared and 110 km of roads have been submerged. This requires 8 crores for restoration and repair. 246 km rural roads under Balasore-I Division have been affected out of which 158 km roads have been cleared and 88 km have been submerged. This requires 3 crores for restoration and repair. 227 km rural roads under Bhadrak-II Division have been affected out of which 215 km roads have been cleared and 12 km have been submerged. This requires 3.5 crores for restoration and repair. 124 km rural roads under Jaleswar Division have been affected out of which 72 km roads have been cleared and 52 km have been submerged. This requires 3.5 crores for restoration and repair. 300 km rural roads under Puri Division have been affected which require 8 crores for restoration and repair. 300 km rural roads under Nimapara Division have been affected which require 5 crores for restoration and repair. 350 km rural roads under Cuttack-I Division have been affected which require 5 crores for restoration and repair. 257 km rural roads under Cuttack-II Division have been affected which require 5.5 crores for restoration and repair. 110 km rural roads under Nayagarh Division have been affected which require 9 crores for restoration and repair. 211 km rural roads under Bhubaneswar Division have also been affectedwhich require 5 crores for restoration and repair. 342 km rural roads under Jagatsinghpur Division have been affected which require 4.5 crores for restoration and repair. 1380 km rural roads under Ganjam-I Division have been affected out of which 1330 km roads have been cleared and 50km have been submerged. This requires 25 crores for restoration and repair. 1070 km rural roads under Ganjam-II Division have been affected out of which 990km roads have been cleared and 80 km have been submerged. This requires 27 crores for restoration and repair. 426 km rural roads under Phulbani Division have been affected out of which 419 km roads have been cleared and 7 km have been submerged. This requires 4.5 crores for restoration and repair. 58 km rural roads under Keonjhar-I Division have been affected which require 1 crore for restoration and repair. 239 km rural roads under Keonjhar-II Division have been affected out of which 100 km roads have been cleared and 139 km have been submerged. This requires 3 crores for restoration and repair. 118 km rural roads under Anandpur Division have been affected which require 6.5 crores for restoration and repair. 234 km rural roads under Jajpur-I Division have been affected out of which 200 km roads have been cleared and 34 km have been submerged. This requires 6 crores for restoration and repair. 205 km rural roads under Jajpur-II Division have been affected which require 4 crores for restoration and repair. 30km rural roads under Dhenkanal Division have been affected which require 2 crores for restoration and repair. 62 km rural roads under Kamakshyanagar Division have been affected which require 2 crores for restoration and repair. 286 km rural roads under Baripada Division have been affected out of which 120 km roads have been cleared and 166 km have been submerged. This requires 8 crores for restoration and repair. 20km rural roads under Karanjia Division have been affected out of which 2 km roads have been cleared and 18 km have been submerged. This requires 1 crores for restoration and repair. Similarly 180 km rural roads under Rairangpur Division have been affected out of which 80 km roads have been cleared and 100 km have been submerged. This requires 2 crores for restoration and repair. It has been ascertained from different RW Divisions of PHAILIN and Flood affected districts that in toto, 7,243 km out of 8,099 km of rural roads have been cleared and 856 km of rural roads have been submerged in the flood. An amount of Rs. 170 crores is required for immediate restoration and repair of affected rural roads under RD Department.
