Bibhudendra Mishra passed away on 16 Feb 2012 and the 2nd Death anniversary was organised and observed by Bibhudebdra Mishra Memorial Trust convened by Banjo Kumar Patnaik ,Advocate of Orissa High Court.The memorial function was held in the High court Bar Association Hall on 16th Feb 2014 in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Justice Mr. Adarsh Kumar Goel who inaugurated the function and focused on the indispensable contribution of Bibhudendra to this judiciary ,country and the fraternity as well.
Mishra, who was law minister in Jawaharlal Nehru’s second cabinet, died at a private hospital here due to old age related ailments. An associate of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Mishra had participated in the 1942 Quit India Movement and was jailed. The leader’s body was first taken to Ravenshaw University here where he along with former Odisha Chief Minister Nilamani Routray had removed Union Jack and unfurled the tricolor in 1939. Mishra, an eminent lawyer and writer, was the president of High Court Bar Association for three time and also remained editor of at least two Odia dailies.
