Actor Kamal Haasan, who is a proud father to actress Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan, says he is proud of both of them. While Shruti has made her mark in Bollywood and is quite active down South too, Akshara too had a notable entry into showbiz and is soon to make her Tamil debut with a flick titled ‘Vivegram’.
“They are self made young ladies and I am very proud of them. I haven’t seen Akshara in ‘Vivegam’ as yet. But whatever she has done I am looking forward to enjoying,” he told a leading publication.
Akshara herelf is pretty excited about her Tamil debut. “I play a pivotal role in Vivegam. I play a girl who is born and brought up abroad. My character’s plot runs parallel to Ajith sir’s character. I’d say my character helps take the film forward,” she told the publication.
Kamal Haasan has found himself making to headlines repeatedly, all thanks to controversies. Not long ago, a radical Hindu group of Tamilnadu accused his TV show ‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ of being anti-Hindu in sentiment and demanded a ban on the show.
“This, I’ve to admit, was unexpected. ‘Bigg Boss’ and its foreign version ‘Big Brother’ have been an accepted format for television for as long as we remember. ‘Bigg Boss’ has been telecast in India in Hindi for 11 years. It’s not likely to induce paroxysms of cultural hysteria in Tamilians who are familiar with the show. It’s a reality-show format accepted the world over. I see no cultural or ideological clash between us and them in the show. And, I haven’t come across anyone doing anything anti-national on the show,” he had earlier stated.
