Humanity Shamed-Daughter Shoulder’s Father Body to Crematorium,After no one came forward
Age-old irrational concept still prevails in human society in the name of Tradition where the dignity of a person is not upheld even after death.
In a Shocking incident at Basudevpali village under Manmunda police limits in Boudh district in Odisha where a daughter lent her shoulder to carry her father’s body, who was a leprosy patient.No one came forward from the village to carry his dead body for cremation.
Against the ritualistic Hindu tradition, Jaynarayan’s daughter Manjurani joined her brother Sanjib and husband to carry her father’s body to the cremation ground for funeral.
Jaynarayan Sahoo, a retired bank official, was affected by leprosy since a long time. He died this morning. As he was a leprosy patient, the neighbours and villagers did not came forward to take the body to the crematorium. His daughter Manjurani (35) finally decided to carry his body for the funeral.
In 21st Century,the stigma related to leprosy still looms large in India as the leprosy control and elimination faces many challenges.
