Ram Nath Kovind canvassed for votes in Uttarakhand

Even as NDA’s Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind canvassed for votes in Uttarakhand, fissures turned into an all-out war in the UPA camp over Meira Kumar’s candidature put forth by the opposition camp.
After RJD it was now the turn of Congress to hit out at Nitish Kumar for backing Kovind.

NDA’s presidential candidate Ramnath Kovind has started his campaign to raise support from political parties. It was in this connection that on Monday Kovind reached Uttarakhand to garner support from legislators and MPs in Dehradun.

Kovind began his campaign from UP on Sunday where he had met CM Yogi Adityanath as well as MPs and MLAs of BJP and allies and appealed for support.

Meanwhile, in the opposition camp tempers are high over the JDU supporting Kovind over Meira Kumar with Lalu terming it a historic blunder. Nitish replied that a daughter of Bihar was being set up for defeat and instead to prepare for victory in 2019 and ensure her election to the position, and now, the Congress too has entered the debate.

While quashing the opposition’s repeated attempts at giving the Presidential elections an ideological angle, the BJP has said that the Presidential elections are over politics.

Though the numbers for the Presidential elections are in favor of the NDA, political parties and the statements being made by the opposition camps on these elections could pave the way for raising political temperatures. The manner in which this will impact Bihar politics is something that only time will tell.
